This is our first red blend, and it is definitely more than the sum of its parts. The blend is 40% Mourvèdre, 20% Syrah, and 40% Garnacha, hence, msg. in a bottle. The color is dark garnet and almost opaque. On the nose, cedar and fresh No. 2 pencil shavings mix with candied red and black fruit. The Mourvèdre provides a bit of earthiness and the Syrah punches above its 20% in terms of body. Tannins are soft but provide a rounded mouth feel and the acidity brings it home on the finish. How about a roast spring lamb or even an Indian lamb curry with this wine? Perfect.
